Loot tweaks
Seems too be s lot better,still lots of keys but at least the mobs dont just exterminate themselves before you reach them
I do miss finding the occasional nice weapon though,thats gone right down..i think I have only found 2 salient weapons in the last four days..and that includes some pretty intensive playing..I know we dont want too many floating about.. but a couple more would be nice,not so much for myself but too give /trade too other players.

The check I wrote to bring a bit of sense and balance to the loot - which up until recently has been totally unchecked - is derived from the maximum suggested loot values as prescribed by the 3.5 Dungeon Master's Guide.
If the system is no longer rewarding, I will re-evaluate the situation. But two uber weapons in four days sounds like a fair ratio to me, especially when balanced against the moon sized lump of gold I'm quite certain you acquired during that period of time.
Its really about sustainability Bean... If you got the best you can get in three days... why stay for months? You notice how quiet its been lately? We're down to four active players - not including myself or Ajax or Elkor (who is on holidays) - Thats because the grinders came, got what they figgered was the best the server could offer and scurried off to where ever they came from.
Not 'zactly what I intended to happen... But its happened and when new people show up here, I'd like it a lot if this occurrence did not repeat itself. A community of active players, taking part in the world development, the forum discussions and online playing is why I do this... No other reason. To this end, I can't Monty Hall the loot, I can't award 450 xp per kill and balance needs be struck.

Ah chap you took me the wrong way,I agree that you dont want tons of uber stuff dropping everywhere, just a bit. the legendary stuff was just a joke I know im months away from finding any[well,hopefully sooner}
Shame we cant auction off the good stuff we find,cos I cant stash it all, and I tend too give most of it away too people I think are sticking around.
And as for gold ,im always skint cos I blow it all on gear, pots etc.

Heh... I wasn't being defensive Bean... I was just telling ya why I'm making these changes.
Anyhoo... Auction off stuff... Would a PC merchant jummy-jig be something of use? I have never actually used anything of the sort, so I don't really consider it... But if you'd use it and consider it of use, well then mayhaps we can work something out.

Im sure you have a LOT more too do than that,I did try the forum once before I,ll try it again,maybe call her a guild Acquirer or something ,Basically i,ll keep an eye out /stash it for free in exchange for one other item,if they cant be bothered..up too them. The forums after all are part of the rp in the game, in fact i,ll post it on some of the IG noticeboards too,still loving it,keep it up !

I would'nt worry about a huge player base until you are done tweaking. More players = more potential bitching about what is'nt done and what is'nt right and this place sucks and this and that. All from people who have no idea what it takes to iron out issues. Some gamers/people in the community you just don't want around during beta sessions.

Why cant I have 3 prestige classes and change my alignment too fit!?,,why ..why?!
Im an arch demon with a soul why cant i use a holy defender?!
why cant my palemaster be lawful good for paladin levels! I wrote a..{crap]..background for him!..you,re cramping my RP man!
And so on and so on.. ad naeuseum.

and my personal favorite...but why cant I be like the Pokemon?...its got canon!?

Went for a good run round today,only found gold until i hit east shores..there playing tactically I managed too find some variation in loot mainly camping stuff and cured leather. few bits of quintessence and a couple of alchemical supplies,fair few gems.
absolutly no weapons tho,not even in the +1 too +5 range .
I did however find a new arch enemy in a big nasty dog!...and nearly pooped myself when a big lizard showed on the horizon!

Another thing has occured too me, their seems a lack of sheilds and helms in the mod so far, at least i havnt found any and only know of one magical one for sale,helms that is.
The logical place is kraknot really maybe a quest opened shop or something?

Helms and sheilds spawn so infrequently because there are about half a million weapons, and only seven or eight types of armor. The entire reason I do loot dynamically like I do is to avoid a palette full of items, whose use and meaning are over time, forgotten.
Unless there is a special purpose to an item, I've not blueprinted it. The common, masterwork, salient, etc etc gear are all created dynamically. In the palette there is one instance of each item and the loot script creates it, decides whether or not keep it and applies random properties, all via a scripted event that occurs within a few milliseconds of the critter spawning.

Managed today too kill one hand too hand stand up fight..Yea Pip!
Got 3 gp and an amulet worth 12..Boo them!,everyone else seems too be ticking along nicely though.

Goblins in the mines are out of control yet, 2-3 screens and I had a full inventory. 2-3 wands on each kill at times, -30/ +10 rings,flawless gems etc. Just what 9 wants to hear!
