Why can't I use a feat?

The last time I leveled, I took the feat "rapid shot". When I tried, I found I was unable to assign the feat to a quick slot. The feat does not show up on my radial menu; or the slot's radial menu. Please help or explain. Thanks. Sorry to be a bother.

to be perfectly honest I may not be the best to answer this...
but I do know I did not modify any of the feats within game so Hmmmm...
maybe Borojb can answer this one.

I always thought it was an automatic feat but looking it up it does say Use:Selected so you got me there.

for info's sake

1) What level did you attain when selecting this feat
2) what Class(es) are/were you when you chose it? (ranger? fighter? combinations?)

in the meantime I will look into my code and see if by chance something might be blocking that feat from displaying properly.

and of course, did you already have Point Blank SHot and a dex of 13 or higher?

and if so was your dex of 13 or higher still valid?
meaning say you have a base dex of 12 and have bracers of dex to raise it to 19, i *think* that if you removed them and dropped your dex back down to 12 you wouldnt be able to *see* the now unusable feat...but add the bracers back in and it *should* appear again..maybe worth a shot to look into quickly if you can.

AFAIK, if you have the feat, you can use it, regardless if you have the prerequisite stat points or not (such as monks cleaving even without 13 STR).

Check your feat list on your character sheet to make sure that you do indeed have the feat.

Also check to make sure you're not getting it from an item. When you have an item that grants a feat such as rapid shot, unequiping the item will of course remove the feat from your feats list and you won't be able to use that particular ability.

My character is: Elf, Chaotic Good, Cleric 15, Champion of Torm 2, Stats (In the vault or naked):
Str 10
Dex 15
Con 12
Int 10
Wis 19
Chr 14

I have jacked up Wis to 29 and Dex to 19, if that matters. Since I have 2 levels of Ch of Torm and 'Lay on Hands' is a spec. ability, I put that in a quick slot.
Both 'Lay on Hands' and 'Rapid Shot' appear on my feat list. Only 'Lay on Hands' appears on either the quick slot or my radial menu. 'Point Blank Shot' works as advertized.
Obviously, this is not a serious problem, but I sure could have used it in Warehouse 18!

Do you have a 'feats.2da' file in your override by chance? Or any other 2da's?

for my $.02 worth.. make sure you're using the correct portion of the radial menu...

When you right click on the open slot choose the option for "special attacks" rather than "special abilities"

lay on hands is a CoT special ability while rapid shot is a special attack.

right click, pick special attacks (lower right) then "more special attacks".. that's where rapid shot shows up on my AA toon...

Wow, thank you all again and especially thank you SHJ for reminding me that 'Rapid Shot' is a Special Attack, not a Special Ability. Once I looked closely at Special Attack I realized where I had suffered yet another Memory Glitch. Sigh! Sorry to be such a bother. Being old is both a blessing and a curse. Thanks again.

No worries. When I started playing NWN again here, it took me a loonngg time to remember where everything was and how to get to it. I had to erase all the stuff I memorized for Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Dragon Age. I can't tell you how many times I right clicked vs left clicked (DA:O was / is backward) to move, etc. I'm 100% sure that when Oblivion II comes out, I'm going to have those Memory Glitches all over again!!

shj lost his nwn rule book manuals on june 19th 2002 and still knows every feat, class rule, item, spell and stat available.

Hah! What gets me going from dragon age back to NWN is middle mouse button/right mouse button usage for orienting the camera around!

Well, that... and I'm incredibly spoiled by advanced tactics....
